Rumpelstiltskin

For this project, I illustrated the story of Rumpelstiltskin, originally written by the Brother’s Grimm. I illustrated the story in the form of a children’s book. I wanted to create illustrations that felt bright and magical, so I used a lot of gradients and illuminating features with analogous and complementary color palettes unique to each flat layout. The story is depicted over 22 full layouts, or 44 pages in total.

In the future, I may plan to publish this book to be sold in stores. In the meantime, I am going to send one or two copies of the book to Champlain College to have in the library or graphic design department, as they have expressed interest to buy a copy for their records.

I illustrated the layouts for the book in ProCreate on my iPad, before transferring these images to my computer to add text to the compositions in Adobe Illustrator. Finally, I used Adobe InDesign to set up the layouts for the book to be printed. I took around 60 hours to complete this project, but I was able to print out a few hardcover copies as a final prototype.
